Barb Wolf and the Myth of the Overcrowded Jail
Remember all the talk about the need for a new jail? Hamilton County found room to lock up Barbara Wolf for 10 days. She committed no crime other than peacefully protesting the war in Iraq.
On Aug. 29 Wolf appeared before Municipal Judge David Stockdale, who sentenced her to six months’ probation and 20 hours of community service. But Wolf refused to comply, saying she’d rather go to jail than have community service — which she’s done all her life — demeaned as “punishment.”
Supporters will rally in solidarity with Wolf at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, at the so-called Justice Center. You can also let her know you support her courageous stand by writing her at this address:
